By putting my lovely car through a machine car wash.
It was filthy though & I had no other means of washing it
Better than no wash at all.......right?

my dad knows someone who had a brand spanking new expensive car, took it through a car wash, scratched it all, snapped the mirrors off, broke the rear window...
I used one once and I will never use one again, you just can't trust them lol

Well it was covered in concrete dust from sitting outside the house (middle of a building site!) so I thought i'd best get that off & as ive no hose plumbed in I just went to the car wash.
1st time ive been in one in years.....I was half expecting the wing mirrors to get ripped off!!
Looks clean now at least & there's no concrete residue any more.

terrible.
i haven't bothered cleaning mine. figured it's best not cleaning it at all rather than using a boso car wash or automated one.

Aye it was by FAR the best option out of washing it with a jet wash, letting someone else wash it and the automated one.

The dirt and muck seals and protects the paint from the ravages of winter weather.
Just leave it dirty for nine or ten months of the year and give it proper tlc when the weather's good.

When I bought my MG I spent a whole day at work using all the benefits of the place including my in floor ramp to do a very carefull and thorough clean. I then used an Autoglym pdi kit, plus I put three coats of wax on her and buffed her by hand.
That was in the september. I didn't touch her again till the following May as the weather was so awfull all autumn and winter.
She ended up dark, matt brownish-grey everywhere and the wheels were almost black, but came up like a spangly new emerald with remarkably little input.
