Bit of a story here but stick with it, I would like to know if I'm the only one that would react like this.
I help run a forum of about 30,000 members as a 'Super Moderator', last month one of the moderators (a notorious attention seeker who had been acting like a complete weirdo for months) makes a thread stating he was going in for an operation for a brain tumour that had been spotted as he had crashed his motorbike. He stated his chances of survival were 60/40 against etc etc Someone has just came on his account and stated he has died today 
Now in a further twist to this, this guy was 'engaged' to another female member from America who also has cancer and has came on posting saying she was in the hospital and mistyping letters etc as she had just came out of chemo.
Now am I being a complete cunt for questioning all this? I have done and I'm just waiting on a reaction. As it stands whoever is posting on his account has given a place for the guys funeral but won't give out an address for people to send their respects or anything else and is conveniently now away to help 'in whatever way he can' therefore can't reply to anything else.
The whole thing, if it is a hoax, has upset literally thousands of people and the entire forum is in shock.

i'm not saying its a hoax as i dont know these people but if it is then it's shocking. i'm up for a joke but that is going too far.

I personally think it is attention seeking but then I'm finding myself thinking 'what if he is actually dead' then I'm the prick.

I'll get off this shortly. There's still a few things need sorted regarding whatever he did on here (prior commitments he wants to see through) so I'll PM you tonight or tomorrow with regards to that.
So yeah this guys mate has just died at the hospital and he is on a football forum wanting to tie up loose ends

Great advice that, ignore the fact someone is dead or has just duped 30,000 people into believing he's dead.

ok in my experience if you ever question something like this then 9 times out of ten you are correct in thinking there making it up.
as for why someone would do this, yes attension, just because it would never cross your minds to make up people being ill and dying you would be surprised how many other people do make things like this up for attention.
in short if some thing sounds fishy it usually is, question is do you trust your sense of judgement?

also im kind of with the other guy if you think its a lie ignore it, and ban the post until they show you something concrete its not hard to find some solid evidence that someone has died, perhaps im just cynical though.

Can you not see where he is posting from with his IP addy and see if its from the same address as prior? Same with the american gf?

That's the IP his account is using, the American girlfriend hasn't been on in ages but I do have her MSN. I believe she is real but what I'm thinking is he is/was jealous of the attention she got when she was ill. Someone posted a happy birthday thread for her and he went off on one stating he knew it wasn't her birthday and she was lieing, all this over the bird he was engaged to weeks earlier

That's the IP of his account but from just today so 'his friend' I'll check and see if it matches his normal IP just now. He's stated he is using his laptop to post from his flat.
