Right i've been having a good think lately......

I don't need a car for work anymore and only use it on a Monday and mostly on weekends.

It's in need of some money spending on it to get it in proper nic again but it goes like this...

New tyres...£400 for Toyo's or buy some new 18's with them already on for sayyy £800 then sell my 17" Prodrives after refurbing/painting them (£200?) So it's either £400 and spraying my rims or £600 for new ones.

It needs a proper service ie Engine oil...Tranny and diff oil..plugs and leads so maybe £300 as the plugs add a lot of labour.

I need new pads...going for DS2500's and may get the callipers refurbed whilst they are there.£100 minimum.

One of my fog light covers came off somewhere so i need a new set..£60 not inc spraying!

The guy who i bought the car off tried to retrim the interior himself in blue alcantara and he did a proper shit job of it and i've pulled most of it off.Going to see a guy at the weekend about redoing it all in black...say £200 maybe?

So say the car is worth about 3K and it needs about £1100 spending on it at least.AND to think i was going to spend 1K on getting a Simtek ECU fitted in the first place the way i look at it though i'd rather have it perfect in standard spec ish.

Orrrrrrrr do i sell it as is and get something else for say 4K?? I can't think of another car in that price range that would make me happy though

I wanted to get a mint 306 GTI-6 and pay my insurance off again for the year. Also i ain't spending thousends on a new new car as i can't bring myself to do it and enjoy having the savings.

i'd keep it. not much else you can get for 4k nowadays thats a 4 door family saloon as well as a very quick performance car.

spend the extra getting bits sorted and drive around in a minted standard-ish example.
