Travelling home and was doing around 40 in a 30 approached a forward facing camera but not on my side of the road (on the right) which I think flashed would this of been for me or the car travelling opposite?
speed lines were on both sides though
Confused...

speed cameras that face towards you don't flash you.

sometimes a car shadow can set off the cameras on other side of road, road near me is funny for it, often see a camera flashing away on the other side when there is no cars on the road

It most likely flashed you.
You will not be caught as they cannot nail you for head on flashes.
A Truevlo (sp) on the otherhand which doesnt flash, can nail you head on.

i've been driving before and a camera on the other side of the road has flashed me, i just assumed it had caught the side of my car depending on the angle of the camera.

I always assumed the lines on the opposite side of the road were to stop people being able to "overtake" the camera at high speed

they can go off when driving the opposite way, they are not supposed to but when they do they only get one pic so cant judge your speed anyway

speedings not big or clever, if you were doing 40 in a 30 then you were in a residentail area where there are little kiddies and peoples favourtite cats to be run over, i do hope you are royally bummed by a speed camera pole.............

Theres always one so you are telling me you have never EVER been over the speed limit on your entire time of car ownership.
Doubt it.
In reality i dont care what anyone says most people at least drive 35MPH in a 30 minimum!
Be realisitic.

yes i speed but right place right time, clear strech of motorway etc, but i do obey the limits in residentail areas because if someones 5yr old child ran out in front of you even that 5mph difference coulld be what kills them. i'm pretty sure i never want that on my mind till the day i die

As ben said, speed cameras that face towards you don't flash you!
Truvelo cameras take a pic of your front numberplate, they're infra-red I think s they dont have to flash (and potentially dazzle you)
Gatsos flash the BACK of your car
It gets confusing when council diliberatly paint gatso lines on both sides of the road, behind the camera, or most confusingly, put Gatso lines around Truvelo cameras!
But you're safe. Happy days. Plenty of Gatsos round here can be set off by going the opposite way.

yep nearly all of the cameras in Dartford flash the wrong way ..... I set them off deliberately .... if you time it well you can make people going through the camera in the right way think it was for them

so what if your speeding on the motorway and a car pulls out and because your speeding your stopping distance is not enough and you hit a car with 3 kids in the back? oh that must be okay then, speeding is not big and clever mate.

I only speed in residential areas, obstacles make it fun, it's boring on the motorway.
