I was after an Xbox and I was considering taking one of those contracts out where you get an xbox with it as i'm sim only for £20 at the minute and I could go onto a £25 contract albeit for 24 months as a way of getting an xbox. Anyway when looking I can get a ps3 slim on the deal, am I better off getting that? I've not been keeping in touch with whats's best and what games are out for which so I really don't know?
I did buy Call of duty the other day for the xbox but left it at my mates, but obviousl;y i'd just sell that, am I right in thinking that the ps3 will be a lot more versatile as in can use for blue ray etc?

Just get whichever one your mates have, that's all there is to it really. Not much point getting a PS3 if all your mates are on Xbox Live or vice-versa.

None of them play online apart from a few on the odd occasion so I can't use that to help me pick.

Well, since your mates are boring then you may as well get the PS3 if you're gonna get kicks out of wasting money on Blu-rays.
EDIT: What kind of tarriffs are these? They're usually shit in my experience when you're getting a free gift. Just wondering as £20 sounds pretty good, so I'm guessing it'll have a poor amount of mins/txts?

Ive been looking at those tarifs too, i think there unlimited txts, 300 mins. I fancy the deal with the TV, Samsung 32in.

In a none biased opinion.
I'd go for the PS3 - Quieter, free online and Bluray player.
360 has a lot of exclusives, but you pay to get online (cable or adaptor) then take out a subscription to play online

360 online is far better than ps3 but you have to pay. You can get a year for £27 though so hardly breaking the bank.
I'd go with a PS3 over 360 unless if I didn't go online much.

RROD was only a problem with the early 360s.
The newer ones don't suffer from those problems any more.

Yeah, then somethin like £120 for a refurbed console, as opposed to Microsofts excellent extended rrod warranty.

Shouldn't really have needed to extend the warranty though?

In your opinion.
But as Brett said, get whatever your mates have.

They don't often charge for out of warranty stuff. But either way, i've had mine since release and no problems.

Even so, it's a nice reassurance over Sony's single year. I actually fixed my xbox myself last week too, it's not that hard.

Yeah I understand that, but if there wasn't such a huge problem with the 360 that would just come with a year warranty aswell.
For the record I'm no fanboy, I've had both the 360 broke the PS3 hasn't so far but I haven't switched it on for way over a month as I don't really play games anyway but I do prefer the PS3.
