i've never got a virus through torrents - that's not to say it's impossible, sometimes helps to read the comments to ascertain whether it's a good file or not.

There are a lot of reasons why you would use Bittorrent legally. eg. a lot of Linux distributions or other GNU lisense software is shared through torrents which is perfectly legal.

use something like peerblock whilst P2P'ing, it won't stop you getting caught but it's offers a bit more protection than without it.

Lol, that wont take long, Virgin Media are the worst for shopping their customers!
I download on average 200-500GB a month over bit-torrents and dont get any problems.
TBH, theres too many downloaders to worry about, they generally only go after the sharers and not the downloaders.

just search google Virgin Media P2P and you only have to read the first 10 titles, they all say the same thing.
If your into your downloading in a big way, I would be tempted to move away from VM.
I wouldnt get too scared, as they're offering a 3 strikes and out warning, the worst they'll do is close your Broadband account.
