It's handy for business side imo, promoting etc.

I've got a couple of football pundits, villa newsgroups plus a couple of villa players

plus a couple of architectural news groups. The telegraphy photography group. Then just a few random celebs like Jimmy Carr, Danny Wallace, Ross Noble. Don't use it myself to write anything but can be good way of keeping up to date with news on things

It certainly has it's uses, i know a few friends (media/graphics/wesbite business) use it all the time and it's helped them with getting jobs/freelance work and like you say it's a good promotion tool. But i've never really 'got it', i've only really started to use it and that's only so i can follow a load of F1 folk and keep updated Glasto lineups etc....
