I must say my limited knowledge of Porsche again struck last night when I thought it was something special, looked like the old Turbo model with the vents and wheels etc

When I edged him out in a race on the runway I laughed my tits off, then I looked up their stats today to see they are only 316bhp

dya know what I had a little do with a Y reg Carrera at the start of the m62 yeasterday, he was driving like a twat down the dual carrage way that leads up to the start of the motorway

he sticks in lane 2 doing 40 mph with me behid, we go through the blue signs that say M62 and he sticks to 40, obviously waiting for me to go into lane 3 so he could boot it and make a fool of me

I I gave my self a bit of room to accelerate before moving out to give me a few mph advantage, indicated, pulled out and heard his porka go "bwaaaaaaaaa" right to the limiter, he pulled away like, probably 2 car lengths between 40mph and 110mph after that he was flying, I was shocked by how slow it was tbh

it didnt seem the cleanest of examples tbf

didnt want to start a thread casue I would get hammered

a lot of porsche i have found to be a lot slower than what you would think by looking at them. The caymen things always make me think they are a 911 quad turbo whatever until they accelerate like an mgf. To be fair to it though, its a standard car and yours isnt.

I dont know what you were expecting from a N/A 3.6 flat 6? its clearly not going to have the mid range torque of a Turbo car.

Its also about 70 kg heavier than the Carrera 2 and still does 60 in under 5 seconds.

I am seriously not having a pop, but I bet it'll be quicker in every other instance like launching (being 4wd) standing quarter and on track.

Not to mention a cheaper Boxster 3.2 S would probably give it a reasonable pasting too thinking about it.

Track I'm willing to bet it's not. Launching maybe but even then with the diff my grip has increased 100% from a standard start.

does it matter????????

fact is its not just performance you get its the fact you get a great car along way ahead of a vxr anyway in every aspect not just performance, you dont need silly amounts of bhp to have fun i mean real fun not lapping mcdonalds or going up and down your local 1/4 mile strip..

Yes but your Car is an anomaly in the matrix, it shouldnt exist but it does

One of my mates test drove a 997 3.6 Carerra 2S this week, im trying to convince him to go a little older for the same money and get a 996 turbo or he stands to be raped by hot hatches in the 997 imho.
