I've got the same problem with my wheels after 5 or more track days and Mintex 1144 pads.
I've found that only patience and claybar removes it mate.

that autoglymn wheel cleaner always gets all the brake dust of my wheels, i think once you got them really clean you just need to maintain it weekly and never leave it on there too long.

Clay bar does remove it and the shape of your wheels will make it easier, I actually think it would be easier for my stress levels to buy new wheels then to spend a week trying to shift the shit off mine

At work we use autoglym wheel cleaner (blue) for cleaning not so dirty wheels, but if there 2nd hand cars and quite bad we use the stronger autoglym wheel cleaner (red) with a firm wheel cleaning brush and that does the trick..
but as said, just use a decent wheel sealant and keep on top of them..
with my polished wheels i need to make sure i clean and seal them twice a week without fail..

Wheel wax is pretty good tbh. I'm using Jetseal in general atm - 2-3 coats of that is pretty effective.
To shift mega stubborn pitting / brake dust if acid and a stiff brush doesn't shift it, then a clay bar is the next step to consider. Takes quite a bit of patience though as Olly said!

Wheel Brightener any good Rich? I've always thought it was a brightener not an light acid cleaner.

It's ok, but not great, it's actually reasonably acidic. Hence why it appears to brighten the wheels. Autosmart do a safer acidic cleaner, as do Dodo Juice.

Wheel brightner? More so than Bilberry yes, although you will get a similar result from Bilberry if you ignore the dilution ratios and use it 1:2 or neat. Not that I suggest doing that on a regular basis!
Basically Bilberry is an alkali, WB is an acid, so will both shift dust but in different ways depending on how strong they are used.

When you say stiff brush how stuff? Any examples?
My EZ brushes are soft but I don't want to scratch the wheels by scrubbing too hard.

I have the second one which I get from my Autosmart rep. I don't use it all the time as it's not very flexible or easy to work with, but it's good for getting at the corner of spokes and round the nuts etc where it builds up. I've never had it scratch a wheel.

my wheels were refurbed not very long ago, but painted and lots of laquer, most of the dust just rubbed off with a finger, but the corners of spokes have some really bonded on spots, had a go with the clay earlier and has worked a bit, but a long way to go
