They need repotting annually and as I've had it a year it was time to repot. You need to use poor quality soil which contains peat and sand. The good soil doesn't agree with their roots.

They need to die back over the winter and have a period of dormancy, its good for the plant as it can grow back when the weather improves, also they live longer this way. So as it was winter I took out of the conservatory and brought in to the house, they don't need watering as much over winter.

Now the weather is improving, and I read this is the best time of year to repot. I've given it a bigger pot as recommended so it can continue to grow and expand its roots. Its back in the conservatory now too.

Below is a picture from last summer when it was at its peak, its obviously still coming back from winter so it doesn't look as big but you can tell its bigger all round. The tray is the same so you can tell the increase in pot size.

Should get bigger this summer.

Now repotted:

They do.

Those flies are finished with, they don't eat them as such. They suck all the nutrients out of the fly and leave the carcass, the dead fly falls out of the trap after a while. Each trap can only feed once or twice then dies back.

yes, a fly has to go in and knock two of the spikes within a certain time, then it closes. (saw it on the tv)
