Im doing something wrong?

Women here is married to a guyy thats the manager of a tesco store. She comes into work in a 3.0 tdi Q8, fully loaded, and also a fully loaded A4 estate.

Going past said tesco earlier, in the staf carpark was a porsche carrera, a BMW X5, brand new Seat Leon FR, plus a few other pretty decent motors.

Am I doing something wrong, as they seem to be paying their staff a lot of money.

Judge a companies pay levels by the cars in the carpark. All good cars usually means good wages and bonus. Carpark full of old fiestas usually means they don't....

We've got a carpark full of fiestas, andguess what, the wages aint great, and I got no bonus. Scumbags...

Tesco management??????? A new career?

Retail management can be well paid particularly in large stores but I can't imagine it's stress-free.

Probably not stress free but how stressful can it be if someone can't buy their weekly pint of milk?

Depends what type of manager he is. If its anything like Asda there are sub managers for the sub managers for the sub managers. Ridiculous.

Been a store manager is an incredibly stressful job though, not something id like to do.

Think he actually manages the whole store.

But they generally have nice cars in the carpark. And a few real rotters

Sam (Fear) on here is a Department manager at Tescos he would know.

But i think general manager and then regional managers are very well paid, as said retail management is very good pay.

its crazy, i know some proper dimwits from school, even the ones who used to go around with knifes and cut peoples faces, throw concrete on train tracks and they get chucked out of school at 15/16.

and now they are "mangers" of some shitty food shops or phone shops etc and driving around in spankingly nice BMW's/audi/porsche etc

i can only feel better by telling myself they don't own anything outright, just paying it back in little bits every month for 10yrs

In most cases i'd agree. 10 years, and the rest

But we're talking £80ks worth of motors. She won't be on much working here.

I know when my mate was doing it and in charge of fruit and veg he had a nightmare with wastage and losing money. Quite a balancing act to ensure that you have enough in to sell but not too much that you throw it away.

Well, at our place we have a manager for each section on days. So bakery, george, checkouts, cleaning, H&L, Fresh. Several for grocery. Then you have the night managers (the fuckers i have to put up with) we have 3 for grocery, 1 for H&L, 1 for fresh.

Then you have the manager of the whole shop for days and another one for nights.

Then you have the guy in charge of the entire operation in that shop.

Supermarkets are rolling in the green stuff & I dont mean lettuces. They pay their managers etc a good wage.

Same as most managerial jobs though I imagine the stress will be in abundance.

One of the OIM's at my place used to be a manager at Toys 'r' us

My mate has progressed through tesco over the last couple of years he is now a manager at one of the stores and gets a very good amount of wedge. Just a shame he didnt get into so much debt before that or he'd be laughing.

I know the waitrose managers get paid a wedge ! But like jonny said they have

Area Manager
Shop Manager
Section Managers
Assistant Section Managers
3rd Hands
Specialists

The Shop Manager where I used to work had a Q8 and a Range Rover as well as a few horses

I was a 3rd hand doing ASM training when I left, should have stayed there

Sainsburys store manager wage is about 50k I believe

Not too sad, but very stressful and work far more hours than you're paid for

The managers of the Waitrose I worked on all seemed to be well off. Though they all drove Vauxhalls because of the company car purchase scheme. Tescos wouldn't be where they were if they employed chimps to run their stores.

Doesnt really make any sense to me either. For example a manager where I work gets about that, however we sell barrels of oil, not cucumbers!!

Depends on the turnover of the store. They'll also probably have regional offices within bigger branches too, so there'll be a few people on a decent wage!
