Watched it last night, can imagine it being an epic film back in the 70's!
Some of the stuff was rather sick & crazy! Surprised they got away with it back then, who else has seen it? A remake of this film, in the current era would be brilliant imo, special effects etc!

Don't remake it, people are really running out of fresh ideas and just remaking old movies.
I see Nightmare on Elm Street has been remade, what a load of cock.

Gotta agree with this... why spoil something? You see what they did with Charlie and the Chocolate factory!?!?! a pure classic destroyed

I never saw the fuss of this film when it was re-released back in the cinemas. I think films have moved on. Far more disturbing stuff out there these days.
I flound Clockwork Orange to be more screwed up than Exorcist.

Maybe I don't fully understand clockwork orange because I don't find that at all a mind fuck :S
Paranormal Activity was good though for a recent film

Clockwork Orange imo was frigging weird, as is the film "Mind Games".
Some mad stuff in that film though... Ramming the cross up her, and then telling her mum to lick her out!

I understand it was weird but it didnt mess with my mind. There was no sudden twist or anything...
for example, Fight club - the guy was actually his alter-ego, Probably a bad example but it was a twist that you think "Ohhh that makes the film rather bizarre now"

Back to the original film, although I think today's technology would make the film epic I also strongly think they would fuck it up too... going overboard and not keeping to the original screenplay

NOOOOO..... DON'T REMAKE IT!
EDIT : Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that Vertigo Entertainment has abandoned the idea of remaking "The Exorcist." Instead, the studio will adapt Mark Opsasnick's book "The Real Story Behind The Exorcist."
Thank god.

great film imo. I love the actor who plays the young priest. Such a haunting film. Great cinema, no need to remake it

The Exorcist II was terrible, flying bees Although Selma Blair was looking alright
Excorcist III was shite too, almost like they forgot it was an Excorcist film and added James Miller at the last minute.
