Hoping i can get some feedback from members on Corsa Sport.

Ive been rallying for many years and we dont seem to have many new people coming into our sport can i ask that you comment on maybe why not and if you are interested what you would like to do. This includes road rallying, autocross, stage rallies tarmac and forest, co driving, marshalling etc.

Thanks

I'm covered by a few options in your poll. I wouldn't really know where to start and it's too expensive for me to get into at the moment. Eventually I want to get into something like 750mc RGB racing or hill climbing. I like the idea of hill climbing.

Too expensive (all motor sports are) which is a shame as I would happily use my Nova when I'm done with it for rallying just aint got the funds.

My friend does various racing and he spends thousands! He gets slight discount on alot of his parts and due to working at a tuning company he can carry out all the maintenance for close to nothing, but still costly. He does it because he loves it though...i'd love to do it too, must admit!

How much do you think it would cost to build say a Corsa 1600 16v in basic form? That would include cage, seats, belts, fire exstingushers, suspension and small brakes mods.

but tyres are around £350 a set...and you need a new set per race (maybe that's different in rallying though)?

If you can do the mechanical work yourself i reckon around £3k.

Tyres are expensive cost me around £140 each but normallty get 2/3 rallies out of them.

I know it's an ignorant view to take, but I've always imagined rallying to be only a small step up from banger racing and to be filled with people like Adam Petherwick?

Rallying, no

Motor-racing. Pure and simple funds.

Be it motorcycle racing, which is more realistic, but more painfull, and honestly im quicker at car driving than I am bike riding at the limit. Bike racing I think would be more fun though.

Car racing, would love to, always been a dream. To old now and whilst i'd love to do it for fun, you still need a good £10k per year to do it. Plus you'll need a van, trailer (more tax, mot, insurance), tools, spares, facilites to repair the car, some team members.

So knowlegde of mechanics and funding

Rallying, whilst extremly skillfull, doesn't really appeal to me. I prefer racing someone next to me than racing a stopwatch.

Thats is ignorant :-) ive been rallying for over 20 years and its played a big part in my life, banger racing not quite. I started with a Pug 309 GTI then a Nova 1600 8v but now ive lost the plot and several thousand pound with a 200+ bhp sequential Corsa.

Something I'd love to do in the future, but at present I really don't know where to even start. Its also obviously a large initial outlay just to try something.

I've got a friend who was a rally driver but now builds and prepares cars, I've done a few days here and there at his place and I've seen the costs of it, I'd love to get into rallying but its just out of my budget right now.

You could try co driving just to get a feel for it or try a rally day at the likes of Chris Birbeck Rally School.

I find it's a number of things, I'd love to try sprinting/hill climbing there's just no info on how to get started, also there's barely a club round here that does what I'm interested in.
I don't mind travelling but I can't even find any where remotely within reasonable distance.
Plus it quite hard to find info on all the clubs etc.
