I remember when everyone used to answer the telephone by saying there telephone number, this doesnt seem to happen anymore

anyone else remember when it seemed to be the norm to pick up the phone and say your number

My mates Mum does this.

My Mum says she would never do it incase she gave someone her number that didn't intentionally call her

i think thats why people dont do it anymore, in the recent climate of cold callers, and random number generators etc.

didnt have any of that nonsense though 15 years or so ago.

not sure why people ever did it in the first place i think it was to give the person calling a chance to realise if they dialled the wrong number.

Used to do it on the house phone when I was younger.

Mobile gets answered with a grunt, aup or yep

yeah my mum used to do that when i was young. she used to just say the last 4 numbers. always found it strange tbh.

I always wondered why he said his number when answering the phone Never seen anyone do it personally. If I know hte number it's usually "Alright mate".

I remember mine, my old one, my house phone and a dozen others no problem
