Would you go public? I really don't see the point of letting the entire world know you won the lottery. You could still live the high life but going public is just asking for people to use you.

Discuss.

I'd keep it quiet unless it was unavoidable. IE huge Euromillions rollover etc

This is exactly the kind of thing I meant. The £86 million win from this weekend for example, it's up to the winner to decide whether to go public or not so it is avoidable.

Obviously it would be unavoidable to keep it quiet from friends and family but I was talking more about the media, newspapers etc..

I wouldn't mention it to anyone at work, then just turn up for work as normal & pretend I'd had a normal weekend

I wouldn't go public and the first thing I'd do is leave the country.

I would carry on as normal, probably buy a nice sized house in a decent area with a double garage.

One thing i would have is a cleaner as i can't stand it I'd do the garden myself as being outside is a treat after working in an office all day...

No-one need to know really. So what if i have a paid for nice sized house. People don't need to know it's paid for etc.

Id like to only tell my family/close friends and still go to work part time and just carry on as usual but but house outright and not have to ever worry about money, but on the other side I dont think I could resist having the money and not buying a big house and a gallardo, which you couldnt really explain to people you didnt tell.

I'd never go public. Would be bad enough via word of mouth and begging letters. £84million is just far too much because people will think you have loads of money to spare etc and "expect" handouts.

I've always said I'd give my parents a huge share and let them deal with the family and who gets what, to save me having the hassle.

Wouldn't matter. How could you keep it quiet unless you moved to the Moon? Word will spread quicker than wildfire.

'Oh, I saw that Nathan the other day, how come he was driving an Enzo? I thought he earned like £20k a year?'........ etc

I think people might guess I'd come in to money when they saw me screaming round in a Ferrari/Lamborghini/Zonda etc.

The last thing you'd want are the papers banging your doors down to pap you. They seem to find out most of the time, so you might want to do something official?

Wouldn't tell anyone, probably just get a new car for a work hack so people wouldn't be to suspicious.

Although big house with amazing garage would be hard to hide

I'd go back into work, happy on the knowledge I'm sorted now.

I'd then hand in my notice.

Then start up my 'own company' ... and then when I start driving ferrari's etc - it's just that my company is doing really really well.

I'd also go motor racing.

I wouldn't shout about it, although like previously mentioned I reckon my brand new gallardo would give it away
