Last night was ridicously hot and I bet tonight will be even hotter
we bought a so called quiet fan which actually sounds like a plane taking off, so needless to say it wasn't on for long, I can only sleep in silence!
I have an air con unit, which is even louder, so it's no use having this on while trying to sleep.
Anyone else finding it too hot while sleeping?

As soon as it starts getting hot I have my fan on all night, it's been on every night for the last few months.

Fans do nothing but make noise and circulate hot air.

Agree slightly, but stagnant air is generally warmer than moving air so it helps a wee bit if it's pointed right at you.

If you can get a fan to de-stratify the room then it would help but in a small sized room it might not feel loads better
Maybe run the A/C unit for an hour before going to bed? Hopefully then you'll be asleep before it gets too warm.

Have sex or a wank. That will send you to sleep regardless of temperature

Fan works fine for me. The first couple of nights I used it I had to turn it off but quickly got used to the droning sound and now have it on all night if the temperature is 25+ when I go to sleep.

I've got 2 windows in my room, I put the fan on facing out of the furthest window, meaning cool air from outside is drawn into to the nearest window (and over me!)
Works great.

This is what you need.
Tesco Value tower fan
Got it in 2008 for about 13 quid, it's never let me down.

I've got a bit like Matt L. I can sleep much better with that bit of background noise on from it
