Same situation Jambo. Although not growing my hair.

Im just a tight arse, left it too long to have it cut. Now I go away in a month, but I won't have it cut twice. I'll have it cut a couple of weeks before I go away, but that means i have a serious mophead, and I dread to think of what it looks like at the back.

Just gotta roll with it and make do for a while

Ive been at it for a year now,

I got to this stage

and it just kept on getting in my eyes and generaly looking shit, so I went to the hair dressers and asked him what is best, he put some layers in it or something, all I know is he cut off about 3 and a half inches off and put me back to square one, that was about 2 months ago now

today its about the same length as the top pic but its growing much nicer, not just sticking out everywhere

in summary, go get some layers put in it asap

My fringe used to be down to my mouth that got a bit annoying. Now its about half way down my nose. Backs down to the back of my neck.

My fringe was down past my nose up to 2 months ago when I had it all cut short. The back was about down to my shoulders too. Got bored of it so now back to short hair

Good on you for keeping it long Matt. Takes a special kind of man. Patience is a virtue.

mines too short on the sides so when i wash it it goes to a big buffon, then i leave it it goes flat. Im desperate for a happy medium lol.

I also got it trimmed and was back to square one l|

I get mine trimmed every two months normally which is just a few layers put in and a couple of inches off.

Left it to long this time though and its far to long so when I go next week its gonna be a drastic change which I hate

Answer to the original question - layers when cut and buy a nice hat

I used to have pretty long hair, I found a beanie everyday for a few months helped, I never had it cut or styled though, just let it grow.
Although I kinda wish i still had long hair but styled, I cba with the inbetween scruffy stage, hell after a month I have to have a cut
