Great idea, if you can afford it.

Something on my to do in life list, but not quite there with a skilled jobset yet that I could pickup in another country.

Do I want to, indeed yes. Mainly for a better climate tbh.

I'd consider it, but then there are alot more things you'd miss in this country than you realise. My uncle emigrated to Australia about 20 years ago and still misses England.

I emigrated from Australia to the UK about 20 years ago Not really my choice though, long story and all that, but I do miss the 'old' country. Need to persuade my other half so we can both move there! Probably have a better chance of winning the Lottery TBH

Why south africa? I know 2 people from there and both say the weathers good but the quality of life isn't good, unless you own a big farm and have slaves.

Not sure i'd want to move to South Africa

I have been looking at options in Canada or Australia, for 10 - 15 years time. I'm lucky with my job that there are several places around the world that I can go

Slaves are true to a certain extent, you don't have to pay them much at all, don't have to give them breaks, food, shelter, as they usually live on site. So they could do a days work, then throw them outside for the night Its still quite a racist place.

Looked into emigrating to New Zealand with the wife and (then) 2 kids. Looked great on paper but I got a job elsewhere and didn't take it.

A mate went out to NZ a couple of years ago to look after his old man who had had a heart attack. He sold his house in the UK with the intention of moving permanently. He lasted a year citing a lack of Tesco and Dominos for his reasons for leaving.

I moved to Spain 4 years ago now and love it. Obviously there are ups and downs to everything but the good outweigh the bad for me. I think it depends where you go if you will last as Spain isnt too different from the UK and lots of brits here already etc, but somewhere like Africa would be way different and probably not have many of the things you will miss. The main ones for me that annoy me is the price of cars, food and finding a decent curry over here. i saw a 1998 1.0 bashed up corsa in a forecourt the other day for 2300 EUR! Also cant find more than 5 lotus elise for sale in the whole of Spain Oh yeh and I miss family blah blah lol

south africa has a bad crime rate and NZ has a massive drug problem, suppose there is good and bad everywhere

cape town in SA has the largest rate of car jacking in the world

I think the amount of dangerous insects/animals in Aus would put me off, but suppose you don't get that problem so much in big citys.

Go for it.

I did it 5 years ago next month now.

It is not a big a thing as you think.

If you don't like it, go to the airport and go home.
