What is it you have in common with your closest closest friends?
I have 5 mates who I consider my closest friends, I went to school since I was 3 with 2 of them, I know one who moved into our street at about age 10 and have met the other 2 through rugby when I was 16
we go on holiday together about 4 times a year, pub every weekend share each others problems ect, have no secrets between us, if there is a problem there is no fucking about, it gets told 
but in the pub on saturday we got onto the conversation of what we have in common, our only thing in common is we like to drink, thats it, we share no common hobbies at all
what is it you have in common with your mates in particular?

Dont see much of my mates any more tbh, Quite a few of them have moved 100's of miles away. Most of the others are still into buckfast, E's & sound as fuck trance music in fields all of which I gave up many many moons ago!!
None of them are into cars really, ones got a RR Sport & another a white A4 Sline. Thats about it the rest either dont drive or have a 1L junk box.
Dont really see them!!!

one of the said mates won 2 tickets to go to an "intimate" pixie gig last week, got there 150 people there, she was fucking ace
his bird didnt speak to him for a week because he took me and not her haha!

hardly see any of my closest friends anymore as there all married and if i do see them there wives are usually there so not the same thing anymore.
can pretty much split my friends into two groups - ones i met through fighting and dum shit and the others i met through cars and bikes and tbh i dont have that much interest in any of the above nowadays so im fucked anyway

Thats pretty much spot on, you don't need to have all the same interests as your mates. There will always be some who are into the same stuff as you eg. going to see a certain gig. But mostly its just about getting a laugh with the boys in my opinion.
I can also see where people are coming from with regarding getting older and not seeing their mates due to birds etc, but even though I have some mates who rarely come out now, I still make the effort to try get everyone out regularly without the birds for some carnage.
