If you had a budget of 5K to buy and prepare a track car which could be used on the road, what would it be?

I would get an Octy VRS with a few bits done to it, like this http://pistonheads.com/sales/1804639.htm

Then some coilovers 600
R-arb 150
hybrid turbo 3-500
custom mapping 600
CRN brake discs and DS2500 pads 250
Then 400 on tyres

An octavia would be my last choice, big daft barge. Something small and quick is the answer. I'd probably supercharge my 106 and get everything bang on, suspension, wheels/tyres/weight reduction etc. Not much keeps up with boosted little cars.

Like this supercharged AX, although the engine is now in a Saxo, it still shifts though. Fine for every day use aswell.

Would you actually use it on track or just make it go fast in a straight line

He is saying that you can't drive round corners and can only go fast in a straight line. It's a poor attempt at humour as he hasn't seen your B road blasts

+1 wouldnt do it again

Wasnt re-assuring when we took the rear suspension arms off and one side was a proper captive nut and the other a bog standard nut and bolt

I would say saxo vts

£1000 car then you have 4k for mods

£600 wheels and 888 tyres

£700 cage and stripping and plastic weight saving parts

£600 suspension

£500 LSD

£400 brakes

Rest blow on the engine either tune up to around 180 NA setup

Or turbo it

Would do this as it has potential out of the box and the 5k price cap means you want cheapish £per£ modding
