anywho anyone got any poointers / advice etc on getting in and training and the lifestlye?

give it to me straight, dont want no PR bullshit to big it up if it is crap, but it does look like a good career

Specials are all kids that were bullied at school, and trying to get one up on every one!!! Or that's what it seams like around here.

Specials are the same as regular Police Officers just volunteer. Are you thinking of PCSO's?

Because PCSO's are just fucking wombles in high vis jackets and caps.

At the moment there is a job freeze as i've been waiting, but joining RAF instead now for my career. Worth a look.

Why do they always send out the PCSO's ffs who then need to call on the regular police to actually do anything

I applied once, got through to the final selection then told them to jam it. Didnt like the idea of being one.

This was years ago, glad I didnt go through with it!!

And theres a cut of funding for Police with new government so I expect recruitment will drop.

Although PCSO's can search for Alcohol but Police Officers can't (stupid I know!). Thats about the only use for PCSO's.

Recruitment has been cut completely. We were supposed to be taking another 2-3 thousand before the Olympics. Its not going to happen now.

Last time i looked (last week) zero police forces were recruiting for actual police officers. With the upcoming public sector cuts also I would consider something else.

Tbh mate you can't tell the difference between the Specials and the Regulars unless you know collar numbers. Specials don't have "specials" on the collar any more.
