After driving a 1.1 saxo as my daily for 8months, watching people drive past in nice cars, but obviously there was a reason i did this as i was saving up and that was to buy a car i can modifiy again, and looking into japanese cars.
Have been wanting a mx5 for quite a long time now, just putting some money away over time waiting for one to come along (didnt want to rush into anything)
last night i went and collected the following:
Mazda Mx5
Ltd edition 'dakar' version (number 120/400)
67k miles
FSH
1.8 (130bhp)
1996/7
UK
brought it down to work today to give it a very quick going over, then brought it back home..
it has got a few cosmetic blemishes but tbh im glad it has, as i wanted a 'used' mx5 outside so im not to fussed where i have to park it and worry about parking dents etc aswell as making sparks off the black stuff, but a faultless runner which it is, so its ideal for what im after..
got a few things on order so expect a few changes of the next few weeks..

Had a few hours today to do a few little jobs (nothing major but still need to be done)
* Steam cleaned the engine bay, (no before picture but it was covered in white dust, very pleased with how its came out)
Auto Glym TFR and and super sheen used for the finish..
* took front plate off..
cheeky one with lights up..
* removed the cheap wood look plastics (took bloody ages to remove all the glue but as you can see the top part still needs going over again)
before:
after:
I have quite a few big changes plans so watch this space...

Tested fitted some wheels that i will be running for the time being once the coilovers arrive but untill then i will keep renting the arches out to a small hungarian immigrant family..
ARCH GAP!!!!!!! :O
Not sure what colour sceme to go for with the centres of the MLs (centres are in white primer ready for paint) but thinking fully polished :S?
bought some of this stuff also, cant wait to use it when the wet weather dies off!!!!!

Thanks dude
you can get the rx7 style front lights which look alrite but tbh its not an rx7 so why make it look like one even though the 'frog eyes' are a little marmite..
puma is my moms, its actually forsale (on ebay) and the link is in the cars forsale section on here..

Update! Failed the Mot on front brakes, so soon got on the blower to order the parts..
old discs/pads
old vs new (ebc pads)
fitted
tried some poorboys black hole on the paintwork, made a big difference imo (going to wait till i start driving it before i use it again and then follow it up with a few coats of Dodo juice purple haze PRO)
also did a funky repair on the seat (due to the last owner being an overweight chef rofl)
cant wait till it has 12months ticket so the non MOT friendly mods can start

i have had spax/avo/gaz coilovers and in all fairness these budgets are not that much worse (had them before on my mk1 golf)
cant wait to get it lower to the black stuff but mot has to come first (which is hopefully next week) then the following week the real modifications will start..
