Got a lift home from offshore from a guy thats got one.
Wasnt very impressed with it to say the least!
Didnt feel quick when it was given some, felt a bit clumsey as well when shown some vigorous driving. Inside wasnt that nice, seats were nice
IMO a 'B' GSi's better

I didnt drive it. I was passenger, usually you feel speed more as a passenger but this didnt seem too inspiring.
What i'm saying is it didnt turn me on as much a 1994 GSi with wind up windows & no airbag managed to.

That's because old cars have character, new cars are boring and lifeless.

Everybody seems to say that dont feel/seem that fast. TBH i doubt it would be shattering quick, its got to look shit compared to a astra vxr.

Having driven both in anger I can tell you a Corsa VXR is significantly more capable than a GSi.
Didn't feel clumsy when I drove it. Perhaps I wasn't driving it clumsily?

Im not saying compared to this that or the next thing it wasnt as fast, it just didnt feel like an almost 200bhp car....as a passenger for 2hrs.
I recon I could beat the driver at a game of touch the dashboard for a tenner!!

You can't consider the power in isolation though, it's very heavy and delivered differently than 200bhp NA.

What i was going to say, its about the power to weight ratio, not how many horses its going to lose over the next few years.

That's because old cars have character, new cars are boring and lifeless.
Or you have probably realised your not 17 no more and realise there are bigger and better things out there!
If you was still driving the GSI today im sure it would be a total different story. Think the M3 has spoiled you

it would feel slow compared to a focus rs.
As said, its a bigger, smoother more stable car than an old gsi.
Iv'e driven a corsa vxr a few times giving it death, and i had my corsa 1.6 sport at the time (if any of you remember it) it wasnt standard at all.
And it felt shit compared to the vxr.

Nope...Danny's right. New cars are completely boring...all pretty much look the same...have no individual character and are (as proven by the fact the VXR has the Punto chassis) all the same bloody car anyway.
I've been in one too, and the seats are comfyish - if a bit big - and thats the only good thing really.
Doesnt feel like a compact, sporty little hatch. None of them do anymore. I dont know why they insist on making cars that have got ridiculus front windcreens.
Plus...all new cars are just fat now....
If someone gave me the choice...i'd have a GSi as well.

I'm not a fan of the D. Don't like the looks or interior.
And when you drive behind one, the dash reflection on the windscreen makes it look like it's wearing a pearl necklace.

mine isnt far off a D VXR I dont think, same chassis, around about the same power and from experience identical straight line speed, mine is just a little nose heavy so I imagine a VXR would turn in a little quicker
they are capable little cars, but if your used to an M3 and a focus RS I dont think its fair to judge
