A woman who sits next to me at work bought a 59 plate VXR Racing edition 6 months ago from Vauxhall, with 1000 miles on the clock. It was registered September 09 and bought in March 2010.
Shes done a further 5000 miles and it’s just flashed up today INSP 0 Miles, as in it needs a service. She was under the impression if wouldn’t need doing for 20,000 miles and is now worrried the previous owner that had the car for 6 months before her had perhaps covered 14,000 miles and had it clocked. Is this a possibility?
It is suspicious that it only covered 1000 miles in the 6 months before she bought it, but there are no stone chips on the front bumper etc(unless its had paint).
She called Vaux this morning and they said its because they didn’t reset the service indicator when they serviced it before she picked it up, which is also strange because why would it need a service after 6 months/1000 miles….

Vaux normally service them before sending them out.
I'm sure tech2 can check the ECU milage now so you can compare that and the mileage on the clocks.
It's also a year since it was registered, could be because it's a year, is might just be set to a static year for the service indicator.

Cheers John, the year thing would make sense, would be good to see if people with VXR's could confirm theirs flashes up every 12 months?
Also, if its standard practice for Vaux to service their cars before them being sent out dispite it not being due, that would also make sense.
The only way she could Tech2 it is to take it back to Vaux, suppose its an option if its on her mind that much.

Yeah. It's 20k or 1 year whichever comes first. If it's a year ago That it was first registered then that will be why it's flagged up. They are designed to flag up each year.
A vx dealership will be able to clear it for her.

Cool, just told her, she said she feels better now, got her worried. It was registered September 2009 so that's what i'll be.
Strange that its 20,000 miles or 1 year, you'd thin the timescale would be longer due to the mileage interval being higer.

It's a myth. Mines fine with 300bhp running through it for a year and a half.

Haha, told her about the gearbox that went on mine after a few months of ownership, didn't stop her buying it though. Mind you, she is 50 and so drives accordingly.

20k or a year depending on what comes first remember, mines done 6k this year doesn't mean it won't get serviced when it's due.

Some people in here would fit right in over at AON, 20k is 'dangerous'.
