Hey guys, fitted my GAZ coilovers which i had to wait 20 days for.
i wasn't impressed with gaz on a friends car but there the only company i could find where you can specify spring rates.
Now after fitting them after the wait for them to come, on droop ( no load ) The spring can move i'd say just over an inch..
I think ok, that's not right but i took it for a drive and all i can hear is the spring moving around all over the place.
Has anyone else had this problem? I'm going to fit helper springs which i hope will sort it, but how can a company supply a £700 set of suspension like this..

If the springs move with the suspension compressed, surely it's on the bumpstops and there's no suspension travel at all?

They don't with the weight of the car on it, however as soon as you hit a bump you can hear the spring moving about, jack it up just a little bit and then the spring can move.
It's about 10 threads off the bottom on the adjuster and there is still a good inch gap between tyre and arch.

If i wind them up so the spring doesnt move on droop, then it's going to raise the car above stock height or very close to it.

You can buy springs yourself you know...D. Faulkner, Hyperco, Eibach.
And you answered the question yourself...£700 a set. The stuff I work with is £700 a damper, £1200-1500 if its a strut.

The stuff i work with at Pyro is too but that doesn't matter.
I know i can buy springs my self, but i bought an off the shelf kit designed to fit my car as in bolt on and drive. Not have to remove, fit my own helper springs or buy my own different springs.
Regardless, if i fit longer springs, it will push the piston up meaning the coilovers will be ineffective and it will be a ridiculously high height.

I had no problems with the gaz on my car, but when warren bought them, he said they had burst seals, never effected the handling on mine or the ride.

There aren't any bushes on the macpherson strut.
I spoke to Gaz and they believe it's because i've had 600lb springs from them that's what's causing the spring to jump around and extend the shock momentarily causing the noise and movement.
Sending me a set of helper springs so that should sort it i hope!

Yeah, i should of mentioned the car really!
it seems the usual choice for a E36 track car when running semi slicks, and that's what i'll be running unless it's wet, then no doubt i'll be having some fun

They came assembled with spring tops then you put your original top mount over the top.
I wish i could get a refund for them now and buy something else tbh.
