this is quite fascinating, playing around on insurance quote engines and a slight variation of my job role reduces premium by 100 pound so i ask people if they bend the truth on their premium about what they do, also what are classed as safe professions? how would an insurance company ever find out your job as a result of a claim as well?

i put down as a joke that my profession was a car salesman and it shot up £200, going to spend a while trying to manipulate it and see whats best, worth changing though or playing around with to see if it saves a few quid

When I took out insurance I worked in the motor trade with was giving me stupid quotes. So I ended up being a receptionist for 2 years I had two crashes in that time and they never said anything about it. I changed jobs a few months before my second crash and I even said to the woman my job title is different now and they weren't bothered at all.

I told them I worked when I didn't. Don't think it matters that much what you put, how they ever gonna find out if you lie?

When my renewal was up i tried a few different ones...
Auditor
Electricity Board employee
IT Manager
A combination of the above is probably right, so i just picked the cheapest. Cant remember how much, think one was cheaper than the others by about £30.

I don't lie on mine as I cab with any potential hassle should I ever need to claim, but now being in the motor trade my premiums are ridiculous And I don't get the ability to pay a little extra with the certain companies that do offer it to drive other cars TP.

its very strange, i guess if you are in a job maybe where you carry expensive equpiment or might be near them you could be a bigger risk so bigger premiums? weird as i would have thought someone who drives day in day out as there profession would be a safer driver as they have more experience, weird how it works.

Its weird. I am a Police Officer. I put in i pay £500 per yr. If i put i am a soldier, paying £500 it gives Police officer a quote of £420. Doesnt make sense to me. Not as though i can be even slightly selective as to what I put. Even my Rospa membership doesnt change it, even though I am pursuit trained and response trained. Hmmm.
