What would you do if you dropped your car at a garage (or anywhere else that you would leave your car with someone else to work on such as sound audio installer, leather re-trimmer, etc) and you come back to find 8 extra miles on the clock but everything was in the same condition as it was and there was absolutely no reason to take it for a test drive?

I'd come straight home and post it on a popular small car forum.

Kick off, but you may struggle to get anywhere if you have no proof.

I'd mention it when you pay the bill, but its hardly the end of the world.

50 miles I'd be going mad, 10 isn't worth getting stressed over.

I caught Auto Windscreens in the act, walking to collect my car and some lad pulling out a junction setting off down road at silly speeds!

I kicked off as I seen him do it!

I'd ask why they have done 8miles when was no real reason to without a doubt!

I kept a SEAT courtesy car for longer than I needed when I discovered the little workshop wanker had been kicking my Ibiza about. I saw the little cunt doing it, through a tiny village town centre, 45+ over speed bumps.

Fair to say the service manager got a shouting at.

I'd also be alright with this though, especially if it was at a re-trimmers.

Airbags etc, just checking no warning lights/fault codes that could be read and sorted before you pick the car up

That will be their excuse though "we had to check something" then you can't really argue it, unless you saw them botting it about time

I once picked up my old Astra CDTI150 up from the local stealers and the mpg reading on the computer was showing 7mpg!!!!! It was on about 35mpg when i dropped it off. Someone must have been stomping about in it.

The lowest I ever got it to was 11mpg.

It had been in for a service and not even one wheel had been off because they were filthy and there was no hand/finger marks etc.

I questioned them about the 7mpg and the fact that they hadn't had a wheel off but they claimed they could check everything with wheels on? They said they would investigate the thrashing the car had obviously had! Never heard back.
