Need to know what engine rating it was to begin with, the 115 and 130s being much more reliable on the whole.

It's tough, they do hold value well but 170k is a LOT, but then it does have quite a value of parts on it.

My old 115ps one was remapped to 140ish and was still sweet as a nut engine and transmission wise at 145k when I sold it and the fuel economy figures he mentions are spot on too.

Just paid £5740 for my 53 plate golf gt tdi 130 on 46k, they hold their money well tbh.
That exhaust is horrid and the mods are cheap so id buy it due to the enginehaving all the work done. Heard of a few that need new turbos after remaps as the veins block up. Also my 130 does 69mpg at 60mph and after a remap it actually can acheive better believe it or not!
Fun car, turbo power band is very short on a standard one, eats front tyres, my 130 whistles like mad, munches miles, check bushes are ok as they are costly to replace, to replace headlight bulbs its a bumper off issues unless you have insanely small hands lol.
