Cheers guys
Unfortunately not Mike, it now means I have to pay all the rent and bills, instead of splitting it. Either that or moving to a new place anyway, but I'll speak to my landlord and see if we can cut a deal at all.

Now that sucks, surely if you have a tenancy agreement or something she can't just walk out ?
Couldn't you get a mate to move in to help ?

It's a mutual split, with no hard feelings - it's just not working anymore, and it's been coming for a few months.
The tenancy agreement we signed was for 6 months fixed, and then on a rolling monthly basis - the 6 months was up at the beginning of December, so it would just be a case of myself signing up with the landlord again for another 6 months, hopefully at a reduced rate. My argument will be that if he cuts it by £50 a month, then after 6 months he'll be £300 worse off - but if I decide to move out, it'll cost him more than that in letting agency fees to readvertise it, so hopefully he'll go with it. I've been a good tenant, looked after the place massively, even changed some bits that were damaged when we moved in, so as I say, I should have a decent case for him to drop the rent.
As for getting a mate to move in - not really an option. It's a 2 bed place, but with a double room and a very small single room, which would only really be useful as a guest room - I certainly wouldn't want it as my permanent bedroom!
It'll be a struggle to afford it on my own at the moment, although I think I'd just about manage - just the extra £50 a month would make it a lot more bearable, as I'm due a decent pay rise when I move off the grad scheme at work in October/November next year.
