Not that many people will care but we are launching the iPhone in the US now on CDMA.
More interestingly, it is runnign a new iOS 4.2.5 with MiFi capability - 'personal hotspot'.

Verizon are a US mobiel company. CDMA is a different type of mobile phone, using diff technology (not compatible in europe, as a genereal rule).

On topic, this has been on the cards since the release last year. And the MiFi support is probably down to Verizon's recent annoucement about their unlimited data plan. Either way, this doesn't really affect us and i can't see us getting MiFi support any time soon especially with UK networks clamping down on data usage.

It seems strange how they release this now. Makes me think that the next iPhone might not be here in June?

They have to bring it out in June to fix the Antenna without being caught out, they've still not admitted it's a problem so can't say the changes that they've made to the internals on the Verizon one are to solve it.

Yes, partly. Vodafone Group PLC and Verizon Communications Inc jointly own Verizon Wireless (45%/55%)

Will be interesting to see how well this works. One of the big limitations of CDMA is its like what we had here before 3G in that if you are using the internet you can't take any calls.

I didn't realise it was different hardware too. No wonder there's been so much talk of a 'Verizon iPhone'.
