Ive had a 1.8sri was a very nice car indeed.
the 1.9CDTI units are good engine nippy and good mpg, there insurance group 12.

only problems with them is the altinator (sp) and something about the swirl flaps?

I was taking the piss btw, nothing up with the gearboxes unless you can't drive.

they look good. diesel sounds very economical.

Been looking into these myself mate, was gonna purchase on elast year but me and th gf decided to hold horses and think about what else is available.

We are starting to look again at them, i hear the 1.7s are sluggish though i couldnt comment on it myself.

The swirl flap issue and egr valve is supposidly a commen problem on the 16v 1.9 engine. Can be costly aswell.

As far as i know its the only engine with the fault and how commn it is im not ure as you only hear bad things on forums, thats what they are there for.

The 1.9 8v (120 ps) suppose to be a good engine without the swirl flap problems ect.
