Wanting to spend about £500.

Not bothered on brand, just want a really clear picture. I've just bought a popcorn hour box, so i'm going to be hooking that up to it.

37"+

So what's available? Don't know much about the latest ones tbh, difference in led & lcd etc.

I've got an LG 50" but the quality on it is quite shit, 720p plasma, ideally want a 1080p tv as i've got some blurays.

I have the 40 inch model of this and paid £800 for it.I upgraded from a samsung lcd which was poor quality really.The sharp is an amazing tv with a brilliant deep vivid picture.Wins hands down in my book.

Richer Sounds seem to have LG's within your budget that look pretty good. I went in and had a look at some a few weeks ago when I was thinking about getting a new TV, was suitably impressed

How does freesat work without a dish then?

I've seen a sony freesat hd tv, on ebay, says it includes bbc1 hd etc. Does the panasonic you've posted have the same?

Have a look on comet clearance site too, seen TVs with damaged boxes going for ok money.

If its picture quality and deep blacks you're looking for stay away from LED. Clouding and light bleed is common and degrades the picture, its all a marketing ploy.

However if you specifically need a thin TV that uses slightly less electricity, LED's sound.

I didn't realise LED had poorer picture quality, there goes my first two choices then. Whats best to go for LCD?

Until the locally dimming LED set come down in price you're better sticking with CCFL (standard) backlit tvs. This is the view of most of the users on AVF. Also, from personal experience my mate has the LED version of my Samsung which he paid £200 more for and he commented on how much better the picture/lighting on mine. When we play COD at night at his and the black loading screen comes up, you can clearly see the uneven lighting and light blead at intervals around the border from the LED's.

£850 is a good budget you should be able to get a decent Panasonic for that money. Which one I wouldn't know as my budget was a couple of hundred less when I was researching.

For what I use it for I dont think i'm going to notice much difference tbh, only watch football / films on it, dont bother with games etc anymore.

Just bought Sony 40EX703

Seems alright, Internet TV too which seems cool.

For sports you'd ideally want 100hz so thats a
