So thought i'd start a little dicussion on the inlet manifold for the 1600's. Now i've seen people on here claiming you can reach a 20bhp gain, but is this actually true? Not actually seen much proof posted about!

Just wondering which inlet you have, whether its the dblias, mantzel or the VX ones, and what gains you've seen!

I've got a VX one, but my car isn't on the road yet, and looking forward to see what difference it makes!

Also a quick question, the clearence on mine, between where the throttle body and the bulk head is erm, pretty much nothing. Is this the case for anyone else? If so, what did you do about it? Just thought that if you put your foot down and the engine rocks back, it might bend the inlet?

106bhp Corsa GSi with just an inlet made 121bhp on the rollers, 15bhp increase.

With a higher limiter you might mate 20bhp.

C16XE with an inlet and exhaust system saw 140 BHP, although the rollers were probably out.

I'd love to know what mines putting out. I've got a VX performance one on mine and love it! I know what you mean about them being close to the bulkhead though, Mines scratched the paint off a bit but other than that its fine

Yeah, well i think a rolling road day is in order once my car is sorted for me! My VX inlet is actually touching the bulk head with on the the sensor plugs...

My mantzel on my c16xe took it from a previous rr result of 103bhp (standard except exhaust) to 118 bhp.
Then added a manifold and modded airbox with panel filter and it took it to 124bhp.

No 1600 now is going to have the same power as book figures. So you will always be starting from less to start with.

I made 128 with 'flame' inlet, 4-1, decat, full ss jetex exhaust. Give or take 1/2 bhp but standard 106's and type r pulled out book figures that day. My engine was rebuilt 10k before this.

With an exhaust system mine made 114.4 bhp.

With a Mantzel fitted it made 125.2 bhp.

This was done on the same rollers and about 2 months apart.
