I can digest fuel prices, insurance, running costs....as I dont do many miles. But struggle to justify spending £440 for 12 months road tax when i'm out of the country for 5 of those months.

Whatever way I look at it I just think........fuck you government!!!

How can I change that outlook, its annoying me but every ace car is in band M!!

I'd be annoyed if I was in your position aswell, if you can comfortably afford it then just pay it, I'm sure it's worth it when you do get out in the car. Afterall you do work to have a nice car, it's just a shame that we get raped on other things we need in order to drive them.

I suppose 400 tax isnt huge on the bigger picture but it just seems stupid when i'll probably do 5k miles a year in it!!

I'm not complaining because it favours me but the car I do 15k+ a year in is £90 to tax and the one I'm gunna do about 3k in is £205 - makes no sence!

I want to buy an old range rover for a run about & have something like a GTR or DB9 as a toy. That would be pretty ace, that would be almost 700 a year in road tax or £100 a month that i'm actually here!!

Maaaan!! Should just pay 1 road tax fund no matter how many cars you own!! Should pay it for the licence not for the car. Like If yo have 6 TV's you still only pay one license fee....same idea!!

Fuuuuuck the gov!!!

get a slightly older car

There is no way around it if you want a nice newish car.

Pay through the nose for everything!

How much of MY road tax repairs roads in MY locality? I bet sweet FA! Tax from local council should be generated for that council, not London.

Road tax doesnt go towards repairing roads, that comes from your local council funds. Road tax goes straight to the government.

tbf road tax for a corsa sport is over 10% of its value
road tax on a db9/gtr (£50k value) is less than 1% of the value of the car
therefore STFU moaning
as they say there is only two things you can be certain of in life
"death and taxes"

should have considered that before buying the car in all honesty

The idea is drive epople away from buying high emission cars

However I still think road tax should be scrapped and the price put on fuel, so that people who use the road more, regardless of emissions etc pay more road tax compared to someone who uses the road very little

How can it be fair for someone to pay the same road tax doing 30k a year compared to someone who does 5k a year

for me its great - Cost me £60 a year to tax 2 cars but its not right IMO

I'd rather pay as least as possible to get to work and back, why should I eat into my pay to simply "get there".
