Is there any way to buy a realistic looking airsoft gun without being registered with the airsoft society thingy? Or can you only buy 2 tone guns? I have no interest in running round with a bunch of geeks in my spare time but I've seen a couple of cool guns I want to get me hands on.

Airsoft = BB guns right?

I'm sure when I was like 15-16 I bought a few of these just off of "normal" websites without needing a permit, and they weren't two-tone/funny colours either.

I've never understood how airsoft works - if you're paintballing and get hit, you know you're hit and it's ultimately more realistic imo since the paint is kind of like blood, i.e. you can tell if someone's been hit at a glance plus you feel it when you're hit. Always seems like paintball for people who don't want to get messy/ hurt? Not knocking it but don't really see the appeal.

It's great fun tbh I've got an M14 with Holographic, and there's something hugely satisfying about hitting someone between the eyes.

When and why did the law change? I had a pistol when I was in my teens, I pretty sure I bought from a shop.

Edit, 2007. You can't do sod all in this country anymore.

The law pretty much changed because of arsehole Scottish junkies shooting kids.

How do you prove someone's been shot at the events?

So if I dug my old black bb hand gun out the loft. What happens regarding having a licence seeing as I've owned it years before the law?

Doesn't matter if you already own them.

You have to be registered with an airsoft site now to be able to purchase the weapons that aren't covered in orange paint.

I've still got my G36, AK47 & M4A1

With regards to getting hit, airsoft is a lot more serious people spend a fortune on load outs and treat it like real warfare. If you cheat it kind of defeats the object.

The guns are more powerful as well, imagine being hit by a weapon firing 15-20 BBs and second at over 300 feet per second, you aren't going to be able to hide the fact you've been hit.

I went paintballing recently, fun but bullshit. Guns are shit, nobody has a clue what they are doing kids firing off guns and running out of ammo in the game
