Had the Astra just over 2 month now and it due a service this month but unsure whether to go to my local vauxhall stealer for it or take it to my local garage that iv used for over 4 years and had all my work on the corsa done there. My local garage quoted me £160- £180 for the full service but got a card through the door from vauxhall which they say £99 for full service.

But knowing vauxhall they may tell me this and that needs doing usually costing ££££££'s

What should i do?

is doing it yourself out of the question? Best of both worlds, you know its done and saves you cash.

Caffyns are doing £99 service at the moment but it's like a maintinance check, oil+filter and pollen filter (well was on my skoda). Why don't you just call them and ask what your getting for £99?

pay the extra and go to your trusted local, they will stamp the book and do a propper job, plus your money will be going to them and not to a mega company like vauxhall

id get it done at vaux. if something goes wrong on it they might kick off that its not been serviced by them, servicing is bullshit anyway.

i love how they make it sound like a service is epicly important and then rape you for it. wtf is a major service? probably still just oil and filter and a good bend over

I bet that £99 is just an oil & filter change and a 'check over'. Which is a actually a fucking rip off

There is some bloody bullshit in this thread!! How are they stealers & rip offs? Have you used them before? Do any of you actually realise how much it costs to train staff to Vauxhall Standards, local grease monkeys at Bob's Garage are more inclined to bodge stuff.

If its a Masterfit service, should be Oil & Filter, Air Filter & plugs as well as VHC check. If they phone you and say it needs X,Y & Z which will be £300, just say no and then get a second opinion if you don't trust them!
