Been with my Mrs for 6 years and lived together for 4 years. Her current job is on a fixed term contract which ends next month. Shes applied for a new job which shes been offered and its a £10k pay rise, the only problem is, its the same company I work for, not only that its the same department.
The departments pretty big, over 500 people in total but based in the same office. At first we thought it would be OK but now its coming to actually making the decision were thinking it could be a bad move.
Im doing pretty well in work at the moment and we're getting on well too and think this might ruin things.
What are your opinions on this?

I worked with my ex missus for a week, at times, it was irratating watching other's flirt with her in front of me etc, at other's it was quite pro, overall, I wouldn't do it again, given the choice

Going home discussing work after being at work, in soem cases I have heard of people having nothing to discuss at home because they talk about everything at work. It could lead to problems.

We would be in the same role but she would be earning more as they always pay externals more, that wouldn't be an issue. My money is hers and vise versa.
We're thinking just to accept the job to save being out of work from next month, but look for something else aswel.
Shes fully prepared to turn the job down if thats what we decide.

Ive just moved into the department, i'll be earning the same within the next 12 months. Plus I won individual of the year and got lunch next week with the CEO, I aint going anywhere.

Joinly earn an extra £10k a year.

Don't work together if you value your relationship 'cus it'll fuck all that shit up, trust me. You might not be a jealous person, but you will be when dicks start flirting with her or touching her in front of you and others and there's nothing you can do 'cus you're at work. Not only that, but bitchy rumours etc, it's a recipe for disaster, just don't work together, trust.

Haha, I'm sure guys flirt with her where she works now but like you say, it doesn't bother me because I can't see it.

I've been seeing a lass that works at the same place as me. Small office, about 25 of us. No one at work knows, seems the best way for now. She is leaving in just over 2 weeks anyway.
I would prefer to keep work and personal life separate so long term it is good that she is going somewhere else although we met through work so obviously used to working together already. Different situation with you though, you don't already work together so it might be a disaster. I wouldn't do it.

I remember working with my mrs and some bloke came in asking her on a date. He was embarassed with me being there anyway as he didnt know me. He asked her out for a drink, then said 'unless you are going out with him'

I would rather my gf was on the dole than work along side me.
The only upside is you can ride her in the toilets whenever you want, so its a hard choice.

Only plus I can see is when she comes home and starts chatting about people and stories from work you will know what they are talking about rather than just nodding along to keep them happy
