hi people yesterday i done the very very stupid thing of filling my car up with diesel! its a 1.6 16v sport now its still running but not as good obviously its very smokey and boggy whats the best way to flush the diesel out or what not

Drill a hole in the tank and drain it out, then fill the hole with a butt plug.

How much diesel did you put in??? Just cyphen the tank then refill with petrol and give it a bit of stick to clear it out. I done it the other way a few months ago and it was a complete nightmare as I had to change nearly everything.

£10 worth mate i tried sucking it out with a hose pipe but the tank bends round to the right so the pipe i used wudnt go round and down into the tank =[ how do u cyphen it|??

Totally depends on how much you put in. If you put like 5 litres in, i would just brim the tank with petrol, then keep topping it up every day with more petrol to weaken the mix. Give it some stick and do this for a few days then put fuel system cleaner.

Id say you would be best brimming the tank with petrol, least then theres some petrol in the mix for it to run better rather than beaing 90% diesel and 10% petrol

Could you not disconnect a fuel line from the pump and then get a 12v feed to the pump to run it and it'll pump itself out?

Just brim it with petrol, will be fine no need for cleaner, as there is nothing dirty about diesel.

The petrol content will be higher then, so there will be more petrol for your engine to burn

If you leave it as it is theres hardly any petrol for your engine to burn, therefore running shit as its mostly diesel. Shouldnt take long for it to eventually sort itself out and it'll just be pure petrol if you keep brimming the tank

If you fill the tank up with more petrol then there will be less diesel getting into the engine per stroke.

If you leave it to use all the diesel then fill up with petrol it's using 100% diesel until it runs out, mainly.

Think of it as a cup of diluting juice, diesel being the juice and petrol water.
Drink some juice, then top up with more water water. What happens? The juice gets weaker, or in this case the amount of diesel
