i know it wont be fast,
i dont plan on doing it unless im realy bored,

wont work derv turbos spool at low revs so are no use if you want to turbo a 1.2 8v go and get the ct9 turbo off a glanza and modify it to fit i was talkin about doing it before i shafted my 8v engine it can be done with very little work.

it may fit easy... but it wont work, like said diesel turbos even spool at tick over, wont work on a petrol
you cant remap the standard ecu too

it was only a theory,
ye i was aware of that aswell but still would be suming fun to fill my boredom
how strong do you recon the cranks are in 1.2's
1.4 8v head + 1.6 8v cam + turbo = or
can pic most of this stuff up cheap i would probably buy another engine to play with

ct9 turbo off the glanza then and it has been done very easily and would be fun on the 1.2. technically any petrol turbo can be made to fit if you have the time

Surely the turbo spooling early will be ecu controlled?

it would work yes
i think the issue is getting it to spool up nicely it would basically be a fuck load of back presure untill its going and it may have a stupid ass torque band

yea but any turbo is going to create alot of back pressure. if it is mapped well you can feather the tourqe.

dervs have alot more compression there for abit more force to spin it up, where a a petrol turbo would be easier to get going if that makes any sense

I think generally a diesel turbo will be smaller than the equivalent petrol engine turbo, which would give the quicker spool. A 1.5D turbo should be alright on a 1.2 IMO
Edit, if you whack a turbo on, you will have to let the car warm up and cool down properly then Tom!

I've heard you arriving/leaving Singer (and most of Cov with your exhaust!), heavy right foot is an understatement

4k revs at most, you need a hheavy right foot to move a 1.2
its not even that loud

if you run really low boost you wont need to lower the comp, the hill climb nova was a 1.4 turbo making 170hp and it was ment to be serious fast

That nova was a sleeved down 1.2 to make it a 1.0 so it could run in the 1400 and under class.
What's this about lowering the compression?? I've seen 20psi stuffed into a standard compression xe, fair enough it was on megasquirt though.

Not true. Adding a turbo to a N/A combustion is a recipe for disaster in this instance. Bare in mind this is a piddly little 1.2 8v lump. He wants to gain 55bhp. To do this, he will have bollock in a shit load of boost pressure (in comparison with the capacity) which in turn will mean much more heat.
Tiny 1.2 + extra heat + no compression changes = DETONATION!
Total waste of time and money IMO.
