I got a buyagift voucher off my parents at Christmas for indoor skydiving for two people, so I took a mate along with me to Airkix in Manchester last night .
I can thoroughly recommend it, although it is much more difficult than it looks when you're watching the instructors, but on my second round, I managed almost a whole minute without having to be saved! It is quite pricey for a short time actually flying, but worth it in my opinion.

I wouldn't be able to get into it with people sat round watching me, although it does look decent.

No, not at all. The worst part was that you can't help but smile/grin while you're in there and the fans were blowing at around 110mph so it dries your teeth out something shocking. Everybody came out licking their teeth like they had dentures!

Yeah, at a place called Airkix, which is next door to ChillFactor, an indoor skiiing slope. I think it was in a place called Urston?

No it's fine.

It is a great laugh if you do it with mates. We got the video of us. We had a guy at works brother in with us (he's UK/world champion or something) so he pissed around with us and done things they wouldn't usually let instructors do. But i'd recommend this to anyone even though it is expensive!

My voucher was £65 for two I think, but that included a DVD too (as part of the buyagift package). I think if you bought it directly through Airkix (they have a branch in Milton Keynes too) it would probably work out a little cheaper.

They could have invested in a better camera with all those £65's

The first time round, it was a bit nerve-racking with everyone watching, but the second time, everyone was so busy enjoying themselves and trying to get better that most of us forgot everyone was watching. Ideally, no audience would have been great, but they use the spectator area as a promotional tool I guess.
The image I've put up is just a screenshot of the video I got given. The actual pictures are meant to be better, but mine wouldn't load up earlier.

I've not done it myself, but theres a free viewing area in the airkicks in Milton Keynes which I've been up to a couple of times.

Made me laugh one time when this massive unit of a man 'jumped' into the airflow and nearly hit the netting due to the air not supporting his weight

Even better was the instructor frantically waving his hands to get the power turned up

Our instructor was pretty cool. He ran into the dome, ran up one wall, skimmed across the ceiling, then hovered down the other side. I'll have a look now to see if I can screen-shot it......
