i suppose the correct pronunciation is that of which country it originated from.
so if americans call it 'nikey' then i suppose thats what it is.
not sure what the germans call porsche i think its just that porsche and not porschea, i think thats just how the americans say it.
for me.. nike and porsche.

It's actually "Porscher", not Porsch as we say it.

As John says, I live in Germany and understand how words are pronounced here. The letter "e" on the end of a word is not silent as in English, and usually has an "eh" sound.
I used to say "Porsch" too, then changed when I moved here.
And no, I don't work for Porsche.

As for Nike, isn't that an ancient Greek god? So however that was pronounced must be correct.

It's definitely Porscher, a lot of owners are really anal about it too.
Another one is Adidas, not Adeedas.

Nope, can't say I have. But the Standesamt prohibits any children being given a name which doesn't clearly show the gender of the child, or could cause them anguish in life, so maybe that's why.
That picture reminded me of what my colleague told me yesterday... "Dolphins are just gay sharks"

So could you not name a boy born in Germany Ashley? I doubt there is many, if any Germans called Ashley but still, I can understand that standesamt? but I don't agree it works.
