Got myself 1 for buzzing about up the bing/track.

Was struggling to start and stay fired up so cleaned the carb as it was filthy.

Now it starts 1st kick, idles fine etc, but it will only do it with the choke fully open.Soon as i close the choke to partial or fully closed, it cuts out and wont start.

Its a 110cc X-Plorer.

I used to have a 125cc x-plorer it only started on full choke and never ran on less than half. Could never get it running 100%

Don't need 3k for a decent 250 crosser.Is that bing still open??

Gonna try messing with the air/fuel screw as that might need adjusting.

I stripped the carb off/ removed the float bowl then sprayed into all the nooks and crannys with carb cleaner. It got a good blast.

Need to get it out and check what its like at WOT etc as that might help find the problem.Revs fine etc with the choke fully open.

If its been stood for a while it'll need a good thrash although sometimes its just because it's cold. Let it idle for up to 10mins before you ride it and it should be good to go after that.

Just keep an eye on it when it idles and if it starts to get too hot either turn it off or start riding it

How will i know if its too hot??Just the heat of the engine??

Even when starting it from cold, it rides fine straight away.

Yeah just the overall amount of heat coming off it. You should be able to tell when its hot enough quite easily just by putting your hand near it.

So it rides fine with the choke on but just cuts out when you turn it off? If what i've suggested doesn't work it might be worth just taking the carb, inlet and air filter off and giving all of them another good clean and check the float in the carb is free and able to move.

Yes the flap is fully open.

My mate reckons not to worry about it as he never uses the choke in his.But i reckon it will do damage if its open all the time even from cold.

Yes as ive said the choke is off.

But to start it from cold, the choke is supposed to be on (closed).

But it wont fire up with the choke closed.
