I was thinking there the now when watching Jeremy Clarkson gibber on about Petrolheads... What actually makes you a petrol head? I would like to own an Alfa, but if I don't, does that mean that I don't love cars? I've loved them all my life and I don't think I'll ever lose the passion or enthusiasm for driving them. What do you lot think makes a Petrol Head?

This is the sort of subject I thought you'd put a decent input into Steven. Don't let my perception of you being a cunt be correct.

You see, I was talking about that earlier. As long as I am in control of the decision, I don't think I'd ever want a diesel car. Naturally I can't speak for the future, but no matter how far they advance, how much better (consumption, insurance, tax etc) they are than the counterpart Petrol, I'll always take the petrol due to it being better to drive!

Someone that has an interest in performance cars.
Your local chav who thinks he can do 90 in second gear in his VTR and his mate with a redtop that does 160mph are not included.

Not even performance cars, just really interested in cars.
I don't want an Alfa, especially an old one, I'm right into cars though.
What you own also doesn't count, circumstance doesn't always dictate you can have the car you'd like.

What about a petrolhead that drives a diesel

That's only a problem for people who really don't have a clue.
There are merits for both petrol and diesel, including performance.

I have nothing against diesels, if someone else owns them I wouldn't own one, but that's personal preference. Obviously they have a LOT of advantages over a similar petrol car.

i would say a petrolhead nowadays is a person who is enthusiastic about cars in general and aspires to own the best car for them, doesn't have to be the fastest, lightest, best looking etc.

I would own a Diesel but I wouldn't try & make it something it shouldn't be. I've had turbo petrol now and turbo Diesel is just a massive downgrade so it'd be purely for money saving purposes or a to b car.
But I reckon petrol head is just an interest in cars. Some people can't afford to run a decent car but they might still have an interest in it.

I have always thought like this... however drove my mates 08 bmw a 320D, which i believe is 180 standard and it pulls like fuck for a big car. with a remap i would be very happy with it, and it still does 60mpg
no engine noise though or real character.... I think the above car would have to be for the missus

Yes a car enthusiast but not a petrol head, the clues in the name

Everyone likes cars tbh, there is the real people, then those who take the easy option because its sensible, hate seeing middle age men in run of the mill cars thinking they are a part of it,
