stolen from vx220.org.uk

dodgy bit of maintenance work on an open track = bad times!

http://jalopnik.com/5845899/rented-corvette-and-ring-taxi-crash-at-nurburgring-cause-130k-in-damage

cause, 5mins in, sign just comes out of nowhere! - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ee0QPWUwmgA&feature=player_embedded

For the last couple of years Ive though I would not bother going back to the Nurburgring, which is a shame as it we had an amazing time the first few times we went out, but it just seems to be getting worse and worse.

Yeah open toll road anyway, sometimes repairs can't be done straight away so they will repair it and open it to the public while its still going on. There will be signs showing where the work is being done at the gates and there will be plenty of signs+cones showing where its going on. See it every time we go there.

Police are still investigating, but cite "excessive speed" as the cause.

Shocking. Nurburgring need to pull their finger out because that situation could have easily been avoided simply by someone waving a flag or an earlier roadworks sign.

Just seen the video and that is terrible (position of cones/signs) - But I stand by my comment that usually they are up to scratch on that sort of thing! When I broke down this year before they would tow me off they were asking me if I had clipped a road side worker

Is that a Ring Taxi against the armco? edit: just seen the link, ouch.

Was talking to Joerg, the guy who runs Ringhaus now, and he was saying there's been loads of smashes recently. Too many people with something to prove.

sure the ring is great to go round but seeing these and other stories and crashes, give me a track day over it anyday! betta organised, no busses to watch out for, or road works for that matter! and much cheaper! especially if u crash!

i just dont get it....

Why on earth do folk travel so far and pay so much to do tracktime with bikes/vans/buses/roadworks

We have world class tracks in the UK with proper rules, and safer conditions.... use them

Steve - not picking on you here, but you are a prime example (i may be wrong). How many UK track days have you done? How many times have you been to the ring? Why not do more UK trackdays with the money you are spending on 'Ring' trips?

All you tend to read about is folk moaning about traffic, accidents and deaths. Some of the videos you see of the general public days look like comedy sketches.
