If you were looking at buying a car you really really wanted how much would you be happy paying for insurance? The car I want will be around £1800 to insure a year fully comp (goes down from £2000 with my missus as a named driver), I can/will be able to afford it but it is a lot of money.
But then I paid that amount to insure a 12v corsa when I first passed

say for example an M3 evolution or similar.

As in an E36?

Not in a million years, would have to be a CCX to pay £1800 to insure it.

Yes as in an e36.
I am fairly young though, I want the car a lot (nothing certain for a couple of months yet) but insurance is a lot. that is only on comparison sites though not through specialists, but I cant imagine the will be alot cheaper?

The most I ever paid was £1200 (good few years ago now lol) for a ZX 2ltr 16v. By today's standards that's pretty cheap considering I was only 19. Some of the quote I see nowadays for the younger guys and gals are horrendous, nearly £2k for a 1.2 corsa/Clio etc. I've no idea how you afford it at such a young age lol.

I paid £1800 for a 12v when I was 17.
So was thinking £1800 at 21 for a 300bhp+ car isn't too bad
But then I think it is a lot of money and I could get something nice that is a lot let to insure, a 328 is only £800 to insure and a e46 330, £1100

Have you tried adding parents as named drivers?

Normally brings it down a fair amount.

I have never paid more than £900 for car insurance. Always been in my own name, £900 was at 17 for 12v corsa c. Now pay about £350 for 2.2 astra and about £150 for viva. All fully comp.

Yea that is with both my mum and dad as named drivers, mum brings it down about £200 and my dad makes no difference.

Why not get a 323 or 328 to begin with. will be a very capable car and insurance will be cheaper too.

Most I paid was £1600 on a BMW Z4 a few years ago at 21......I would pay that sort of money again but only for that "special" car, have been contemplating shelling out £1500 on insurance for a Lotus Exige for example.

Most I ever paid was two months worth of a £2400 policy just before I was 25.

Now when I pay a grand I expect three vehicles not one.

Would probably save the money if I could do it again.

What company is it with?

Very few give you driving other cars under 25 now.
