Needing a nice economical diesel car from beginning of next year once my 172 has gone.
basically i want it as cheap to run as possible. cheap tax, 50mpg+ and cheap insurance.
im not looking for a rot box, need something to last.
say £2,000 tops for a car. Newer than 2000 model
cars in mind are a clio DCi, c2 hdi.
something simular to those? just can't think of any other makes atm. just need a few idea's

Corsa 1.7 Dti - Would get one on about 85-90k for £2k up to 03 plate.
Clio Dci for £2k would be like 120k and 51-52 plate.
I personally would say the Dci seems like the best little diesel car for the money, I would also avoid the corsa 1.3 Cdti, heard they have a lot of engine problems from doing a lot of research online.

iv'e looked at the MG, they seem like a good option. insurance is cheap, but the + model in them hikes up for some reason.
Ive seen a few clio DCi's for around 80k on them for just under 2k.

I've been looking at Dci for ages, £2500 max to spend, some nice ones on 40k for 2.5k but they are always miles away.
Learn about the computer fault system if you go to view one, is very useful, shows on the dash fault codes etc. Good luck.

im trying to stay away from the bigger engine cars due to the insurance increase.
the ones mention are under 1k but the mondeo and the bigger ones are up over 1k.
206 2.0 hdi is under 1k insurance, but im not sure what mpg is like?

Peugeot 206 2.0 HDi 90 Eco 3d - 62mpg
Other models like 2.0 HDi LX (90bhp) 3d (AC) are 56 mpg.
Quite a difference.
