iv had a few of my neighbours complain to me about the sound of my car, especially when i start it up on a Saturday and Sunday morning at 5am ready to go to work. its even worse now after fitting a racetube (de-catted, fourbranch...)
i always manage to get out my street and away from housing areas at less that 1 - 1.5k revs. i live in quite a nice street and most of the neighbours are polite (most are quite elderly)
but wtf do you do when you go out to your car on a morning and someone's stuck an onion in your tale pipe. in a way i was but at the same time i really
can just picture an old women with her zimmer frame walking around the street at 2am with an onion in hand
thought id share

I used to have to get a run up when coming into my road then coast the car the rest of the way due to the exhaust being so loud.
Never again will i be doing the loud exhaust thing Just upsets people and made me more noticeable to police.

I'd fit one, someone can correct me here but I'm sure there are decibel limits and the cops/vosa could take the car off you plus your neighbours will start getting more annoyed and for what? You thinking the car sounds good when its just a loud drone, its a 1.6 corsa not a race car lol

Obviously cars often get away with having an aftermarket exhaust but you can be done and many have been.
quote:
Road vehicles The noise levels for cars used on a public road is 74 decibel (dB(A)). Most vehicles produce lower levels. Off-road vehicles and direct injection diesels are allowed to be 1 dB(A) louder. These allowances can be combined, so the limit for an off-road vehicle with a direct injection diesel engine is 76 dB(A). It’s illegal to modify the exhaust system to make a vehicle noisier after it has been ‘type approved’ (checked it meets environmental and safety standards). The police can also take action if your vehicle's silencer doesn’t work or if you’re driving in a way that creates too much noise.

I felt like a right twat when I had a non standard noisy exhaust on my clio when I first got it.
Not sure how anyone can drive about in a corsa that's so noisy the neighbours have a problem with it.

I love making the noise in my car as i like the thought of it making people angry.
Like i feel angry right now as that bloody dog is barking again today
About to go and wheelspin, handbrake turn and speed in the escort to help spread my anger out with the whole street/town
