My dog is petrified of fireworks and theyve started already (obviously im guessing some are for celebrating dewally ) buit not all of them are.

My dog visibly shakes from head to toe and usually ends up climbing in a kitchen cupboard and hiding

Anoyone got any ideas on how to calm her down?
I think she will end up having a heart attack this year. I did give her calpol but didnt want to OD her.

Nothing you can do. We've tried turning the TV up, putting music on loud. Doesn't work. Just have to let them get on with their little panic.

The tv is on really loud as it is.
Covered the air vent up as they echo through there.

I really do feel its going to kill itself through panic/constantly panting awful to watch.

You should never give a dog human medication, A quick Google would tell you that it's a stupid idea. They don't test human medication on dogs

Never give a dog human medication, unless you want to kill it.

I also read on the internet putting a tshirt on your dog helps it calm down.

That was a load of crap.

Valarian (sp) works and is safe. Our dog is the same, found (strangely enough) the only way to calm him is to take him for a drive in the car, he sleeps no problems, yet when hes in the house, where it's quieter, he's petrified. Think my horses will be getting a dose of sedalin!

I guess working gun dogs will be ok with fireworks. Be nice to have a dog that didn't become a jibbering wreck at this time of year

That's just fucking stupid, as is giving your pet calpol. Ring your vet and ask them, you'll get the same answer. Would you take medication meant for your pet?

NEVER compare a fucking dog to a kid almost as bad as the guy in work who always brings his dog into a conversation when people are talking about their children.

This year I bought a DAP diffuser, DAP collar and DAP spray, bought a special t-shirt and started her on Zylkene.

Tried all of them, not the Zylkene though. Wonder what that is.
