Thinking of going back to subaru again and getting a hawkeye sti.
Had 3 scoobs but all classics, rb5 p1 my96 uk. Really fancy trying a newage scoob.
Texted this guy to see if he is interested in a deal on my evo.
http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/3359094.htm
Has anyone had a newage scoob and evo ? thoughts?
cheers.

Just based on looks (haven't driven either) I would prefer the evo.

the hawkeye sti's and those using the 2.5 lump are prone to having weak pistons and ringlands, if you buy one of them most decent specialists recommend not taking the standard engine above 400bhp as they are prone for engine failure unless fitting forged pistons.
a better option would be an earlier blobeye model or a JDM model hawkeye with the far better 2.0 with twinscroll, raised rev limit etc.

my old man found the first part of your comment out much to his expense.
then once it went wrong first time, it was problem after problem and spent more time off road having work done then on road getting driven.
depending on your budget what about...

in my opinion the 'daddy' of all subaru's.

drove one of those imprezas pretty much back to back with an evo 7 + 8 on an airfield trackday, the subaru was much more fun to drive. The evos were boring, very little feedback by comparison and the power delivery is crap imo.

How do Evo's and Impreza's compare to each other, a lot of people say Evo's are better others say Impreza so seeing you've owned both what are your opinion.

After having a lot of experience with both it boils down to this....
Handling = Evo
Everything else = Scooby
There's no doubt the Evo is a better 'Drivers' car at the extreme end of the scale BUT for just about everything else the scooby is better IMHO. Easier to live with day to day, cheaper to run BHPvsBHP comparable, cheaper to buy
and tune and generally a much nice place to be in.
Plus they actually sound nice standard.

Easier to live with?
They're both practical saloon cars. Nothing difficult to live with on the Evo, at all?
IMHO, it just comes down to the badge. Personal preference.
They're both literally as good as each other.

i use my 6 as a daily and over past 4weeks or so ive clocked up 2000miles and im running circo 370-380bhp, paddle clutch is fine to live with too...ive done 11k since april and the car was off the road a month and was using my polo too so proven there that there easy to live with.
evos ARENT dear to tune...there are that many parts for sale on the mlr for good money you'd be suprised.
shane-o - avoid the tme or evo 7's unless had a rod job....the rods are known to be very weak compared to 4-6s and 8-9's

If you want a real car, you buy an Evo.
If you want a cheap skate, chavved up 2nd rate alternative, you buy a Scoobie.
Oh yes I did.

ive got to say...i dont know much about impreza's. some are nice though tbh, but even before i bought my 6, for years its always been....if you cant afford and evo you bought an impreza, was simple as that, even though ive seen some big power scoobys being put together nicely.

Absolute nonsense, verbal diarrhoea at best.
What's cheap-skate / chav / 2nd rate about an Impreza?
