Looks like everything is going turbo

taken off another forum:

"Civic development leader, Mitsuru Kariya told WC at the Frankfurt show that the new 'Type R' in 2013 will be 'at least' 250bhp - pretty much the hot hatch pre-requisite these days, especially if you want to take on the likes of the Renault Megane 250 Cup and the new Ford Focus ST".

vtec turbo yooooo!

think its a good thing everything going down the turbo route.

Opinions?

What colin said, the existing type-r is long and dead, however I don't think it'll be long before turbo and/or charged 1.4's with 200+ bhp will be available more commonly

Seen these pictures a while ago and don't trust then due to it being Auto Express. Turbocharged vtec would have to be a really quick spooling turbo!

I'll reserve my judgement til it comes out. But to put simply, a 10 year old Type R has a better chassis than the current VXR so I wouldn't bet on it.

Think the motorsport side of cosworth the only part that now exists done that as a one off!!

The cosworth brand in its entity that Ford owned and sold had now been split up.

i thought cosworth still existed in the motorsport side of things?

an american owned company now.

im sure anything can happen with a bit of ££££ ford have the following and money to do these sort of things.
ford could bring out a focus 4x4 and charge 50k for it and i guarantee they will all be sold. IMO

My interpretation is that cosworth do motorwport stuff but are not affiliated with any manufacturer any more making production vehicles, with exception of the impreza which was very low numbers.

Yeah possibly they maybe could, although it all depends on how many they are to produce, iirc they made 14k RS's between 2009/10 & sales of them started to slump towards the end.

If its going to be a small quantity vehicle, expensive to produce & develop they wouldnt bother as they would probably loose money on them.
